About The Position

The Employee Benefits Consultant serves as a trusted advisor to employers, helping design, implement, and manage comprehensive employee benefits programs. This role is responsible for developing client relationships, driving business growth, providing strategic benefits guidance, and ensuring exceptional service delivery. The Consultant works closely with clients, carrier partners, and internal service teams to deliver customized solutions that support clients' workforce, financial, and organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with heavy emphasis on Employee Benefits.
  • Sales and marketing experience, preferably in a consulting firm, brokerage firm or insurance company.
  • Insurance experience preferably with Public Sector clients.
  • Life & Disability License required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Adept at accessing business data from the Internet when required.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree with CEBS designation helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary strategic advisor for a portfolio of employee benefits clients.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, including renewal strategy, stewardship, and benefits planning sessions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's business objectives, workforce demographics, and benefits philosophy.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with decision-makers, HR leaders, executives, and key stakeholders.
  • Analyze employee benefits programs and recommend improvements aligned with client goals.
  • Advise clients on medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, wellness, and ancillary programs.
  • Present benefit plan options, funding arrangements, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Provide guidance on emerging market trends, carrier offerings, and innovative benefit solutions.
  • Develop and deliver proposals, presentations, and finalist meetings.
  • Lead annual renewal strategy and carrier negotiations.
  • Review financial reports, claims data, and market benchmarks.
  • Partner with internal service teams and carrier representatives to ensure client success.
  • All other duties as assigned.
