About The Position

Best Line Equipment is seeking an Employee Benefit Specialist to join their Human Resources team at their State College, PA business office. This role is for an experienced HR professional who wants to take ownership of employee benefits in a collaborative, family-owned organization. The specialist will be the primary resource for employee benefits, guiding employees through enrollment, life events, leave administration, and retirement planning, while also administering the self-insured health plan and comprehensive employee benefit programs. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships, explaining complex information clearly, and ensuring accuracy in all details.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources or related field and/or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in benefits administration and HR
  • Experience administering self-insured employee benefit plans is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable employment regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex benefit information clearly in both one-on-one conversations and group presentations
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential employee information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn HRIS and benefits administration systems
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions, providing exceptional customer service and clear, professional guidance.
  • Administer and oversee employee benefit programs, including self-insured medical and dental, fully-insured vision and life insurance, as well as disability and 401K plans.
  • Coordinate benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, annual open enrollment, and employee eligibility changes.
  • Assist employees with benefit claims, coverage questions, and issue resolution by working closely with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and benefit vendors.
  • Administering leave-of-absence and disability programs, ensuring strict compliance with employment laws and company policy.
  • Partner with Payroll and Human Resources to ensure benefit deductions and employee records remain accurate.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and HRIS information with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and support audits while ensuring compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Present benefit information during new hire orientation, employee meetings, and annual open enrollment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve benefit administration processes and enhance the overall employee experience.
