About The Position

Join Hitachi Energy at the forefront of the energy transition and play a key role in shaping the future of electric mobility. In this role, you will take overall technical responsibility for engineering activities across eMobility electric vehicle charging projects, from tender phase through execution. You will contribute to the design of robust, scalable, and customer‑focused charging systems that support sustainable transportation across North America. You will work in a highly collaborative environment, partnering closely with Sales, Tender Management, Project Management, R&D, Supply Chain, and Site Installation and Commissioning teams. Your expertise will help translate customer requirements into optimized technical solutions while ensuring quality, safety, and performance throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics, power systems, or electrical distribution
  • More than 3 years of experience in power systems engineering, including MV substations and LV AC/DC distribution
  • More than 3 years of experience with power converters and DC power supply projects, ideally in eMobility or bus depots
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. electrical codes, including ANSI and IEEE standards
  • Experience with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, BIM, and related design platforms
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for project activities and customer meetings
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Hold overall technical responsibility for engineering activities on projects and tenders
  • Design eMobility electric vehicle charging systems and system architectures
  • Coordinate primary and secondary engineering packages, including layouts and electrical schematics
  • Develop sizing calculations, specifications, and review supplier technical offers
  • Provide technical support during tendering and customer project execution
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and address site‑related technical queries
  • Contribute to continuous optimization of technical solutions based on requirements
