About The Position

The Emerging Store Manager (ESM) is a developmental leadership assignment that prepares associates for potential Store Manager opportunities in Walmart US store operations. The role builds experience across retail operations, people leadership, merchandising, financial management, customer experience, and community engagement. The assignment has no guaranteed timeframe but is expected to last no longer than 12 to 18 months, with an expectation to progress into a Store Manager position within that period. Associates must maintain mobility within their assigned region for Store Manager applications and potential placement. Progress is evaluated against developmental milestones and competency assessments. If a Store Manager position is not secured within the expected timeframe, next steps will depend on performance and business needs and may include placement into another role at a different level. The ESM supports store performance and leadership by developing business plans, monitoring financial and operational results, building teams, ensuring policy and safety compliance, and strengthening relationships with associates, customers, community members, and organizational stakeholders. Additional job-related responsibilities may be assigned throughout the store as necessary. The position is based at 5957 W 44th Ave, Lakeside, Colorado. The annual salary range is $85,000 to $120,000, with additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Certain positions may also receive regional pay zone or complex-structure compensation. Walmart describes benefits including medical, vision, and dental coverage; 401(k); stock purchase; company-paid life insurance; paid time off; parental and family care leave; disability coverage; company discounts; adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement; and the Live Better U education benefit, among others. Eligibility and terms may depend on job classification and length of employment.
