Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center (OPVMC) is seeking a dedicated Emergency Veterinarian to join their collaborative, 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital. As a vital member of the emergency team, the veterinarian will manage a wide variety of urgent and complex cases in a fast-paced, fully equipped facility. Requirements

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous emergency medicine experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency and critical care to small animal patients presenting with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.
  • Confidently triage, diagnose, and manage high-acuity cases.
  • Develop and implement timely treatment plans with the support of skilled Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants.
  • Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
  • Make sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work closely with specialty services, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Radiology, to ensure comprehensive and collaborative patient care.
  • Guide and support pet owners through stressful and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow.
  • Participate in case discussions and continuing education opportunities.
  • Contribute to hospital-wide training initiatives.
  • Play an important role in the continued growth and advancement of the emergency department through protocol development, process improvements, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
