About The Position

Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center-Waukesha is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 12-month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at WVRC-Waukesha. Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) is a thriving multi-specialty referral hospital in Waukesha, Wisconsin, just outside Milwaukee. Our collaborative team includes specialists and experienced clinicians across Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Rehabilitation, and Emergency & Critical Care, providing students with exposure to a wide variety of advanced cases and learning opportunities. With a brand-new facility, advanced diagnostics, and a strong culture of mentorship and teaching, WVRC is committed to supporting the next generation of veterinarians as they grow their clinical skills and explore their interests in veterinary medicine. The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration. The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.

Requirements

Veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine.
Team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable.
Work authorization in the United States.
Candidates eligible for TN status may be considered.

Responsibilities

Train in emergency medicine through a 12-month mentorship program.
Transition into an ER position at WVRC-Waukesha following the training program.
Gain exposure to a wide variety of advanced cases through collaboration with specialists and experienced clinicians.
Develop clinical skills and explore interests in veterinary medicine.
Focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.
Participate in simulation-based didactic components and authentic training experiences with live patients.
Rotate with other specialty services during the training program.
Receive surgical training.
Work with a dedicated mentor on shifts.
Participate in asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds.
Attend regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors.
