About The Position

Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6-9 month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital. Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital provides 24/7 veterinary emergency, specialty care, and veterinary diagnostic imaging. Our experienced veterinary team is dedicated to maintaining open communication with you and your family veterinarian. In doing so, we are able to offer comprehensive diagnoses and detailed treatment plans that ensure the best emergency and specialty veterinary care for your pet. The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration. The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.

Requirements

  • Passion for working in emergency medicine.
  • Team-oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable.
  • Work authorization in the United States.
  • Commitment to a 2-year term as an ER clinician after the mentorship program.
  • Eligible for TN status may be considered (not eligible for visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

  • Train in emergency medicine through a 6-9 month mentorship program.
  • Transition into an ER position at Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital.
  • Develop clinical knowledge and skills essential for an emergency veterinarian.
  • Focus on client and team member communication.
  • Develop professional skills and life/work integration.
  • Participate in simulation-based didactic components and authentic training experiences with live patients.
  • Complete asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds.
  • Rotate with other specialty services during the training program.
  • Receive surgical training.
  • Work with a dedicated mentor on shifts.
