About The Position

The Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) is responsible for safely and efficiently responding to assigned calls while supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with company policies, applicable protocols, and regulatory requirements. This position operates emergency vehicles in a professional and safety-focused manner and works as part of an ambulance crew, with an EMT on a BLS unit, or as assigned for live organ transport operations. The Emergency Vehicle Operator contributes to patient care support, including triage assistance, patient packaging, assessment support, documentation assistance, and safe transport.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to safely operate company motor vehicles and drive long distances when required.
  • Must be able to sit in a motor vehicle for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain professionalism, reliability, and compliance with company standards at all times.
  • Ability to learn new things and apply them in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and maintain prompt, regular attendance.
  • Operate assigned emergency vehicles safely, professionally, and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and safety expectations.
  • Respond to assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner while maintaining awareness of roadway, environmental, and scene safety conditions.
  • Assist with patient triage, packaging, movement, assessment support, documentation support, and transport activities within the scope of the position.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times in accordance with the policy and procedure handbook.
  • Maintain the assigned vehicle and equipment in a clean, organized, stocked, and response-ready condition.
  • Maintain familiarity with the ambulance, equipment, supplies, and their proper function and use.
  • Identify and report defective equipment, supply concerns, vehicle issues, or operational deficiencies to the appropriate manager or supervisor as required.
  • Maintain positive, respectful, and professional working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, healthcare partners, public safety agencies, patients, families, and members of the community.
  • Comply with all company policies, the policy and procedure handbook, the code of conduct, and all applicable local, state, and federal requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
