The Emergency Services Technician assists physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients. This role involves performing phlebotomy, transporting patients, monitoring vital signs, performing wound care, inserting Foley catheters, and obtaining lab specimens. The technician may also perform IV starts if permitted by state regulations. Key responsibilities include documenting patient information and procedures, communicating observations to the registered nurse, processing daily patient charges through the EHR, and coordinating communication with various parties. The role also requires maintaining a safe and clean work environment, monitoring and troubleshooting equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that involve lifting and pushing/pulling. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care and principles of growth and development.
