As a PCT in the Emergency Department, you’ll support nurses in caring for infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients experiencing real or perceived emergency conditions. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide calm, compassionate support — including care for patients nearing the end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. Working in the ED gives you hands-on experience with triage, trauma, medical emergencies, behavioral health needs, and rapid patient turnover. You’ll strengthen skills in communication, teamwork, vital signs, and recognizing changes in patient status. With structured orientation, supportive leadership, and exposure to a wide range of emergency conditions, you’ll build a strong foundation for future growth in nursing or other advanced clinical roles. The Henderson ED is a 17-bed unit with two critical care rooms, one isolation room, one mental health room, and 13 general treatment rooms. The department includes triage, a reception area, a patient/family lounge, a Hazmat/decontamination area, and a quiet room, caring for approximately 24,000 patients each year. With strong teamwork and exposure to a wide range of emergency conditions, the ED offers an excellent environment for building fast-paced clinical skills.
