About The Position

To provide quality patient care by assisting the physician and/or registered nurse. This role involves routine decision-making regarding patient concerns, questions, and abnormal test/vital signs, as well as determining appropriate supplies for patient care. The position also requires recognizing the importance of diversity and cultural beliefs when delivering care to various age groups and populations served at Cass Regional. The working conditions involve risks of blood and body fluid contamination, potential injury from aggressive patients, and exposure to hazardous drugs and chemicals. Age-specific competencies include providing care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• CNA, EMT-B or equivalent certification or experience
• BLS required within 3 months of hire
• NVCI or equivalent class as determined to be required by the facility
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of normal vital signs
• Knowledge of referral resources
• Knowledge of triage and emergency abuse reporting
• Organization skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Computer skills
• Customer service skills
• Written communication skills
• Verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assisting the physician and/or registered nurse in providing quality patient care.
• Determining when to report patient concerns, questions, and abnormal tests/vital signs to the RN.
• Determining appropriate supplies necessary to maintain patient care.
• Providing care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
• Recognizing the importance of diversity and cultural beliefs when delivering care.
