About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency department. The unit has 33 patient care rooms, including 25 cardiac monitor rooms, and a triage area with two bays staffed by mid-level providers and nursing staff. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, and average patient volume is 210. The department treats routine emergency room patients and can manage STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric cases. It is stroke certified and serves as the regional EMS base hospital.

The nurse collaborates with five physicians, three mid-level providers, and ER Technicians, who assist with technical duties. The department has 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services. Orientation includes up to six shifts with a preceptor for floor-specific training. The role uses a self-scheduling unit, with shifts adjusted as needed. The shift is 12 hours, from 7 AM to 7 PM. Scrubs must be navy blue; jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency room setting.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Cerner EMR experience; experienced candidates may test out of training.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients in the emergency room.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and document patient care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and mid-level providers.
• Work with ER Technicians who assist with technical duties.
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA regulations for patient treatment.
• Participate in the self-scheduling unit and adjust shifts as needed.
