About The Position

This position is for an Emergency Room Nurse at AAMC, working the night shift as part of the Resource Pool. Shifts rotate. The role requires a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with prior RN nursing experience. Priority is given to those with ED or critical care nursing experience. New RN graduates with prior experience as an LPN, EMT, or closely related experience may be considered. The nurse must possess organizational skills for a fast-paced, high-stress critical care setting, the ability to properly assess patient chief complaints to prioritize needs, and a thorough knowledge of nursing principles, hospital, and ED policies and procedures. The ability to provide quality patient care in a high-stress environment, effective communication and teamwork, and basic computer skills are essential. Current SC Nursing License or Multi-state license or temporary SC license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required. Certification in TNCC is preferred. Upon initial hire, the employee has six months to obtain ACLS and PALS. NIMS Training (IS100, IS200, and IS700a) must be completed within the first 90 days of hire or transfer to the ER, or a completion certificate must be provided.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Prior RN nursing experience required.
  • Possesses organizational skills necessary in fast paced, high stress critical care setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to properly assess patient chief complaint in order to prioritize patient needs according to severity of illness/injury and needs.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles as well as hospital and ED policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care in a high stress environment.
  • Communicates and works effectively with people.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Current SC Nursing License or Multi-state license or temporary SC license.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required (employee has six months to obtain upon initial hire).
  • PALS required (employee has six months to obtain upon initial hire).
  • Must complete NIMS Training, IS100, IS200 and IS700a within the first 90 days of hire or transfer to the ER or provide completion certificate.
  • Able to pass employee physical prior to orientation.
  • Able to maintain emotional stability.
  • Must be in good physical condition to meet the demands of an active position, including extensive walking, moderate sitting, standing and lifting.
  • Physically able to perform CPR.

Nice To Haves

  • Priority given to ED or critical care nursing experience.
  • New RN graduates with prior experience as an LPN, EMT or who have non-RN, but closely related experience may be considered for this position.
  • Certification in TNCC is preferred.
