About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking an Emergency Response Specialist to join our Plant Safety team. The Emergency Response Specialist provides expert guidance in implementing and managing the TN Operations Emergency Response programs. This role involves training volunteer fire brigade members, first aid responders, and emergency medical responders to ensure high-quality care. They develop and coordinate medical response initiatives in close partnership with Employee Health Services and safety management teams. Additionally, they oversee annual compliance inspections and maintain the reliability of fire safety equipment through regular testing.

Requirements

  • Two plus years of college or AS Degree; with at least three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience = 1 year of education)
  • AEMT/Paramedic Certification or Nursing Licensure (should have emergency response or ER experience)
  • License must be valid in the state of Tennessee at the time of hire
  • Driver’s license with ability to drive company vehicle
  • proficient with a computer with special emphasis on spreadsheets, inventory control, presentation and analytical programs

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of emergency medical strategies, systems, and standards
  • Partner with management to create targeted initiatives that reduce medical and safety risks
  • Prepare and audit incident reports to monitor response effectiveness and communicate trends to leadership
  • Ensure all programs meet local, state, and federal requirements; maintain "standard work" through regular audits
  • Coordinate response strategies for medical, chemical, and natural disasters (e.g., storms, spills, explosions)
  • Build and maintain working relationships with local emergency response agencies
  • Manage medical/fire safety supplies and oversee the inspection and testing of all fire safety equipment
  • Lead and train Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and volunteer first aid responders
  • Provide specialized training in high-stakes areas, including CPR/AED, blunt trauma, amputations, and confined space extractions
  • Manage the corporate Fire Prevention Week program and new responder orientations
  • Model company values, practice rigorous personal safety, and maintain a clean, hygienic work environment
  • Participate in a weekend on-call rotation (approx. every 6-7 weeks) for fire safety incidents
