About The Position

MedVet is seeking a collaborative and driven Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician to join its clinical team. The Emergency team is fast-paced and suits technicians who enjoy staying active, shifting quickly between tasks, and handling stressful critical situations. The role is scheduled Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and may require flexibility to work additional hours when necessary. The technician supports patient assessment and treatment, nursing care, anesthesia and sedation, laboratory testing, and client communication and education.

Requirements

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Proficient in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous emergency veterinary experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
