About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty provider with practices nationwide, providing patients with advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician joins a collaborative clinical team and supports emergency patient care in a fast-paced environment. The role is scheduled Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and requires flexibility to work additional hours when necessary. Emergency technicians evaluate and prioritize incoming patients, assist veterinarians with assessment and procedures, and provide monitoring and nursing care for hospitalized patients.

Requirements

• Hold a state Registered Veterinary Technician license.
• Have prior veterinary experience.
• Be proficient in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Be flexible with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous emergency veterinary experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist the veterinarian with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
