About The Position
Locum tenens Emergency Medicine Physician position in Laredo, Texas, providing coverage at a freestanding emergency department. The coverage period begins October 20, 2026, and continues ongoing. The role provides 24-hour emergency medical services through 12-hour shifts, with an average daily volume of 25 patients. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. The department is not a designated trauma center and uses Cerner. Hospital privileges are required, including cross-credentialing at Doctors Hospital of Laredo and affiliated facilities. The physician will coordinate with support staff and specialists at Doctors Hospital of Laredo for patient transfers.
Requirements
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Internal Medicine (ABIM), or Family Medicine (ABFM).
- ABIM- or ABFM-certified candidates must have at least 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience.
- Active Texas medical license.
- Active DEA required.
- ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
- Hospital privileges required, including cross-credentialing at Doctors Hospital of Laredo and affiliated facilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical services in a freestanding emergency department.
- Manage emergent conditions, including stroke, heart attack, abdominal or back pain, fractures, lacerations, sprains, and infections.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including X-ray, CT, and ultrasound.
- Work 12-hour shifts to ensure continuous coverage.
- Collaborate with support staff and specialists at Doctors Hospital of Laredo for cross-credentialing and patient transfers.
