About The Position

The Division of Emergency Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is seeking dynamic Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) faculty to join the team starting in 2027. Ideal candidates for this position should be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine or dual boarded in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. Three pathways are available for this role, clinician educator, research scholar, and clinical excellence. Educational/clinical/translational scholarship and opportunities are encouraged and available. The position offers a competitive salary, bonus plan and an excellent benefits package. Overnight shifts include additional compensation. Nationwide Children’s hospital is the third largest pediatric hospital in the country with 696 beds. The medical staff includes over 550 full-time faculty of The Ohio State School of Medicine. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) has primary responsibility for the care of patients in Nationwide Children’s Emergency Department, which is a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center with more than 60 faculty members and more than 100,000 patient encounters per year. Emergency Medicine has a robust research infrastructure with more than 8 research assistants, a full-time biostatistician, senior research scientist, and pre and post award administrative support. We are one of six lead nodes comprising the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), the first federally funded pediatric emergency medicine research network in the United States. Emergency Medicine includes an active federally funded disaster science program that includes research and disaster science education and disaster medicine focused faculty and project managers.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine or dual boarded in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.
  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.
  • Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.

  • Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on the needs of the division.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required.
  • Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.
