The Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacist I is responsible for overseeing pharmaceutical care within the emergency medicine department. This includes evaluating biomedical literature, designing medication therapy regimens, and educating patients and caregivers about their medications, including potential adverse effects, compliance, and administration. The role involves designing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens, implementing recommendations, and documenting care. The pharmacist will review and interpret medication orders, participate in medical emergencies, and support medication safety and quality improvement initiatives. They will also collaborate with the healthcare team on formulary adherence, assist with acquiring non-formulary medications, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations. Additionally, the pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and oversee the storage and handling of medications, and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents, mentoring and training other pharmacy team members. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of patients served, including understanding growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
