About The Position

Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Requirements

  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
  • Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
  • Ability to exhibit situational awareness
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level

Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency events.
  • Provides assessment, treatment, and transportation of ill or injured persons consistent with relevant acts, regulations, protocols, bylaws, and policies.
  • Operates emergency vehicles safely and effectively.
  • Safely and consistently lifts/loads stretcher on a regular basis.
