About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician-PCP is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergent calls for service, provide initial assessment, treatment and transport of ill or injured persons. Requirements

  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Listening skills
  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
  • Ability to be resilient
  • Ability to exhibit situational awareness
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
  • Knowledge of legislation, protocols & scope of practice applicable to EMS in SK
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
  • Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
  • Demonstrate responsible decision-making supported by strong critical thinking
  • Automated External Defibrillator Certificate (AED)
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Current Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(BLS-CPR) certification
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level

  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.
