About The Position

Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events, and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Requirements

  • Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP)
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Basic interpersonal skills
  • Listening skills
  • Written Communication Skills
  • Verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
  • Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
  • Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
  • Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
  • Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
  • Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations
  • Ability to exhibit situational awareness
  • Knowledge of EMS Practitioners legislation/protocols/scope of practice
  • Ability to be resilient
  • Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
  • Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
  • Must be able to respond to the ambulance within 10 minutes when on-call
