Emergency Medical Technician
About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician-PCP is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergent calls for service, provide initial assessment, treatment and transport of ill or injured persons. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment. Requirements
- Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute
- Valid Class 4 driver's license
- International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
- Current Basic Life Support-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(BLS-CPR) certification
- Writing skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Listening skills
- Verbal communication skills
- Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care
- Ability to be resilient
- Knowledge of legislation, protocols & scope of practice applicable to EMS in SK
- Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking
- Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System.
- Conflict resolution skills to effectively handle difficult issues
- Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively
- Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions
- Decision making through the application of clinical, legal & ethical practice
- Ability to exhibit situational awareness
- Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
- Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level
