As a member of the Baptist Hospital Transport Team, the EMT is responsible for the operation of ambulances and serves as the primary driver/operator for transport. The position assists in evaluating patient status/needs and determining priority of transport requests. The position performs intra-system and inter-facility transports with Paramedic or Registered Nurses/Respiratory Therapists oversight, based on priority triage. The position assesses patients and implements a plan of care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and under the direction of the transport team physician. The EMT performs daily maintenance of the ambulance, including all ALS/BLS equipment stored in the ambulance, maintaining logs, and restocking supplies.
