Performs difficult technical and administrative work coordinating the emergency medical services program to include maintaining comprehensive training and credentialing records; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Emergency Medical Services Director. Essential Functions/Typical Tasks Planning, organizing and directing emergency medical services in-service training programs; providing technical assistance; preparing and maintaining files and records; preparing reports; The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Assures staff skills are adequate; evaluate new and existing employees’ skills in the field. Revise and develop medical protocols and procedures as needed. Analyzes agency response and methods to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services. Evaluates service delivery by quality improvement reviews of calls; reviews written patient care reports for compliance with standing orders, on-line medical control, state regulations, federal laws and regulations, and agency policy and procedures; recommends changes for new policy, procedures and guidelines. Develops and conducts the EMS in-service training program for new employees and remediation training for all employees on skills, equipment, protocols, etc. Oversees medical supplies and inventory and assists in the reordering of supplies. Responds to calls in cases of staff shortages, natural disasters, major incidents, or any situation deemed necessary by the EMS Director; observes department employees’ performance. Prepares a variety of complex and/or confidential reports requested; maintains confidential files. Performs related tasks as required.
