About The Position

Teller County is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator to provide administrative and program support to the Emergency Manager to support the County’s emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative, program coordination, records management, or related experience required.
  • Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Must obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) certifications, including ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, and IS-800, within the timeframe designated by the Emergency Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in business administration, emergency management, public administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in emergency management, public safety, local government, or a related environment preferred.
  • Any acceptable combination of education, training, and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and program support for Emergency Management activities.
  • Maintains Emergency Management records, files, contact lists, databases, and other program documentation; coordinates routine updates and ensures information is current and readily accessible.
  • Provides administrative support for Emergency Management preparedness plans, annexes, procedures, intergovernmental agreements (IGAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), and related documents, including tracking required review and renewal deadlines and coordinating timely updates to ensure documents remain current.
  • Provides administrative support for Emergency Management grants, including tracking deadlines and expenditures, processing invoices and purchase orders, maintaining supporting documentation, and assisting with required grant and reimbursement reporting.
  • Maintains and provides authorized access to Hazardous Materials facility files and other required documentation for the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Assists with the preparation, maintenance, and distribution of emergency preparedness and public outreach materials, including approved website, print, social media, and other communications.
  • Provides support for emergency preparedness training and exercises, including coordination, documentation, and other activities necessary to plan, conduct, and evaluate exercises in accordance with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
  • May provide support in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies, disasters, exercises, and other activations, performing assigned functions such as documentation, situational information, communications, coordination with County employees and emergency volunteers, and other operational support.
  • During EOC activations, assists with resource mobilization and logistics, including coordinating with partner agencies, tracking resources, and maintaining or updating equipment and resource information in applicable state and federal databases.
  • Assists with incident and recovery documentation following emergencies and disasters, including records necessary to support damage assessment, reimbursement, after-action reporting, and corrective action tracking.
