About The Position

This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing emergency management programs and activities. The role involves planning, organizing, and directing emergency preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts. The Coordinator will work to ensure the safety and security of the district during emergencies and disasters. This includes developing and maintaining emergency plans, conducting training and drills, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in emergency management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency management principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing emergency plans and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in crisis situations.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and technology for emergency management.
  • Completion of the entire seven (7) year work history in the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
  • Submission of a cover letter, current resume, three (3) letters of recommendation, and official transcripts (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive emergency management plans and programs for the district.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize potential hazards.
  • Organize and facilitate emergency response drills and exercises.
  • Provide training and education on emergency procedures to staff and students.
  • Liaise with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies and other external partners.
  • Manage emergency response resources and equipment.
  • Develop and disseminate emergency communication plans and protocols.
  • Oversee the maintenance of emergency management documentation and records.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews and recommend improvements to emergency plans.
