About The Position

Provides direct client services through the Emergency Financial Assistance program to individuals and families experiencing financial crisis. Responsible for intake, assessment, eligibility determination, case management, and coordination of emergency assistance services in accordance with agency policies, grant requirements, and best practices. Works to stabilize households, prevent homelessness, and promote client self-sufficiency while maintaining dignity and respect for all served.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, sociology, psychology, or a related field required.
  • A minimum of 2–4 years of case management or direct service experience in a nonprofit or social services setting.
  • Clear a Level II background screening.
  • Clear a reference check (professional and personal)
  • Clear a local background check from the county in which you reside.
  • Clear an annal Motor Vehicles Records check.
  • Provide proof of and maintain a minimum personal auto insurance according to agency standards.
  • Provide a copy of all certifications prior to your first day of employment.
  • Clear an E-Verify check.
  • Valid Florida state driver’s license and a reliable car.
  • Knowledge of case management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to assess client needs and provide services in a compassionate, strengths-based manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and client database systems; ability to learn agency-specific software.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.

  • Experience working with emergency assistance, housing stability, or low-income populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intake, screening, and comprehensive needs assessments to determine eligibility for emergency financial assistance programs.
  • Provide case management services, including development of individualized service plans focused on stabilization and prevention of homelessness.
  • Determine client eligibility and process financial assistance requests in compliance with program guidelines, funding source requirements, and agency policies.
  • Coordinate payment of approved assistance to vendors (e.g., landlords, utility companies) in collaboration with Finance staff.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete client records, documentation, and case notes in required databases and files.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant, contractual, regulatory, and agency requirements related to service delivery and documentation.
  • Provide referrals to internal and external resources, including housing, food assistance, employment, benefits, and supportive services.
  • Educate clients on budgeting, financial literacy, and available community resources as appropriate.
  • Monitor client progress and follow up to assess outcomes and ongoing needs.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and supervision as required.
  • Prepare required reports, statistics, and documentation for program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Participate in outreach activities and community collaboration related to emergency assistance services.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in all client interactions.
  • Carry out responsibilities in a manner that supports a mission-driven, compassionate, and collaborative culture.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client and agency information in accordance with agency policy and applicable laws.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural, socioeconomic, and spiritual characteristics of the populations served.
  • Attend agency and departmental meetings as required.
  • Participate in training, in-service activities, and continuing education for professional development and compliance.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisor regarding caseload, challenges, and client needs.
  • Attend all Agency meetings as required.
  • Participate in in-service activities, training, continuing education, conferences and workshops for professional development and compliance with grant and Agency policies.
  • Comply with regulatory, statutory, contractual, grant and Agency standards for timeliness, completeness and accuracy when preparing and maintaining paperwork and required reports.
  • Comply with Diocesan and Catholic Charities Bureau, Inc. general policies, regulations, and procedures.
