About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician provides basic, non-invasive clinical and clerical support in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and physicians. The role assists with vital signs, patient transport and hygiene, equipment setup, and maintaining environmental cleanliness to support safe, efficient patient care. The technician reports and records observations and contributes to the efficient functioning of the department. The position is listed as 0.9 FTE and works 8- and 12-hour day/PM shifts, including every-other weekend and every-other holiday. During the first week of employment, the technician must be available for Nursing Education orientation from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Emergency Medical Tech-Basic certification or evidence of previous EMT-B licensure within the last 12 months (Wisconsin Department of Human Services).
Certified Basic Life Support.
Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
At least one year of healthcare experience in an acute care setting, such as emergency medical service, a hospital emergency department, or military field triage and treatment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Team-oriented approach and willingness to assist in all aspects of patient care.
Availability during the first week of employment from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Nursing Education orientation.
