About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician is responsible for ensuring all oxygen tanks are full and readily available on each gurney, and for stocking all rooms with necessary bedside supplies and linens. This role also involves transporting patients to ancillary departments as required. Additionally, the ED Tech will assist Registered Nurses (RNs) and physicians/Pas with assessments, examinations, and treatments as directed, and will support the unit clerk with clerical duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. Essential job duties include reporting and documenting patient care activities in the emergency department information system, such as vital signs, bedside care, and observations. The role also entails providing telephone services, including answering and directing calls, relaying information, placing pages to physicians, performing overhead paging of safety codes, and returning calls. The technician will also notify ancillary departments of the need for patient services in a timely and appropriate manner.

Requirements

EMT, CNA, or Medical Assistant (Required)
BLS (Issued by American Heart Association (Required)
Basic dysrhythmia certification required within 6 months of hire
Current Phlebotomy certification – State of California preferred
CPI Certification obtained within first 90 days of employment
Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language
Telephone, typing, and filing skills
Basic computer systems
Basic knowledge of nursing care terminology and functions

Responsibilities

Assure all oxygen tanks are full and available on each gurney
