In this role, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, performing all aspects of first-level patient care and assuming responsibility for maintenance of all emergency equipment supplies within the ED. Your work will be vital for ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and coworkers, as well as appropriately utilizing all resources involved with helping to provide exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required; can be obtained after hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Customer service skills consistent with organizational mission and values
  • Ability to follow directions; perform routine responsibilities in a flexible, self-directed manner
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as, instructions, policies, procedures
  • Ability to use math skills to compute/interpret figures related to patient care
  • De-escalation training annually after hire

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or higher preferred
  • Healthcare specific technical diploma highly preferred
  • Hands on, patient facing experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred
  • Experience equivalent to 100 hours of patient care experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred
  • Certified Nurse Assistant certification preferred.
  • EMT highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living as required to promote hygiene, comfort, nutritional intake, and safety as indicated in plan of care
  • Assist patients with mobility through such activities as ambulating, use of assistive devices, positioning, transferring, ROM, and others as indicated by individual plan of care
  • Accurately obtains and documents vital signs and measurements related to patient care
  • Performing specimen collection and obtaining EKG
  • Assist and support routine unit-specific procedures and treatments related to patient care
  • Support all aspects of ensuring patient safety including detailed observation and reporting
  • Serve as a communicator with patients, family members, and staff to optimize quality care
