About The Position

The Emergency Department Technician is responsible to the Manager of the ED for overall practice and works under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department. This role requires the ability to follow directions, work independently, and collaborate with other personnel in the clinical area. The technician must demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance, an even temperament, and use tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when interacting with patients, families, and co-workers at all times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years patient care experience
  • Demonstrates ability to follow directions and work independently, as well as with other personnel in clinical area
  • Works collaboratively with Emergency Department staff members
  • Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with all people: uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patient families and co-workers at all times
  • Valid driver’s license
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Pennsylvania EMT Certification required
  • Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years

  • Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification with EMSVO Endorsement preferred
