About The Position

Sentara Health is hiring an Emergency Department Technician at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. This part-time position is 24 hours per week on the night shift. The technician assists physicians, advanced practitioners, and nurses in implementing plans of care for emergency and minor-emergency patients, and performs patient procedures and treatments under their supervision. De-escalation and physical intervention training must be completed within 15 days of hire. BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous clinical experience.
• New incumbents must meet one of the following additional qualifications: EMT-B with state or national certification at the time of hire; successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School as a qualified MMAC candidate; or current enrollment in a clinical program (such as RN, LPN, Respiratory, or Physical Therapy) with at least one semester completed.
• Candidates previously employed in Sentara’s ED Tech job code within the past two years may be considered in place of the listed additional qualifications.
• Complete de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
• Obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
