About The Position

This is a Full Time Night Position. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. It requires strong prioritization and critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. The position adheres to triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines, utilizing evidence-based practices to collaborate with the healthcare team for quality outcomes and coordinated patient care. This includes managing patient transfer, discharge, referral, and addressing spiritual/psychosocial support needs. The role also involves identifying communication barriers, evaluating learning needs of patients and/or families, and providing appropriate education. Effective delegation of patient care to ancillary personnel is expected, with potential for precepting student nurses and new hires. Practice must align with professional and ethical standards, including the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act. The position also requires demonstrating caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family teaching. Additionally, the role demands full commitment to the CHOICE values of MRH, fostering positive working relationships, adhering to dress code, exhibiting initiative, completing required education and training, maintaining patient confidentiality, reporting to work punctually, contributing to performance improvement initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and following infection control, safety, and risk management procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment
  • Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or be obtained within six (6) months of hire).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current STABLE certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Two (2) years hospital nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • One (1) year Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
  • May precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Practice according to professional and ethical standards as noted in the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrates caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family teaching as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Completes all required annual education, training, in-services, and licensure/certification updates; actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings or reviews meeting minutes as required.

  • Reports to work punctually and completes assigned duties within established timeframes.
  • Actively contributes to departmental and organization-wide performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
  • Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
