About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department implements the nursing process for patients of all ages, from infancy to geriatrics, and is responsible for care within the parameters of the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act. The RN promotes positive patient outcomes and quality of care, and initiates change through active involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils. Using National Professional Nursing Standards, the RN applies critical thinking and appropriate nursing judgment, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes, and serves as a role model through continuous professional development, teaching, and learning across the healthcare continuum. The newly expanded Emergency Department has 32 beds arranged in four eight-bed pods, each staffed by one provider, two RNs, and one technician, plus nine Clinical Decision Unit beds. It treats an average of more than 150 patients per day, including acute cardiovascular and neurovascular emergencies, general medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, and psychiatric patients. The department is recognized as an American Heart Association STEMI receiving center and designated Primary Stroke Center. An extensive orientation program supports autonomous nursing practice across a wide range of clinical specialties, and the department emphasizes teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration. New graduates with appropriate training and background are welcome. This full-time position works a mid shift from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., totaling 36 hours per week.
