About The Position

This is a self-scheduling full-time night shift position for an Emergency Department Registered Nurse within the Western Market Regional Resource Pool, serving Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SMJH), Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital (SRMH), and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital (SNVMC). The role offers a flexible work schedule, self-scheduling capabilities, premium pay, and a resource pool differential. Full-time status requires scheduling at least 144 hours per calendar month (36 hours per week), with a minimum of 48 hours scheduled on a weekend shift and 48 hours on an off-shift (starting after 3 pm). The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards for specific clinical areas and is required to work in all units for which they are qualified, with a minimum of two different units. The position requires the nurse to reside within 75 miles and 90 minutes of two hospitals in the Northern Virginia or Blue Ridge region.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse Diploma (Required)
  • Registered Nurse License (Required)
  • All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • A minimum of 18 months (most recent experience) as RN in acute care setting.
  • Available to work 36 hours per week Full-time status, a minimum of 144 hours per month.
  • Reside within 75 miles and 90 minutes of two hospitals in the Northern Virginia or Blue Ridge region: Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA; Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, VA; and Sentara Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville, VA.
