RN - 19434176

OCED•Yakima, WA

About The Position

This position is for an Emergency Department nurse at a small acute-care location in Union Gap, Washington. The facility operates 24/7 and will have 8–10 beds available starting November 3. The nurse will care for patients from neonates to geriatrics; approximately 25% of cases are pediatric. Patient presentations include walk-in traumas and cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, respiratory, and psychiatric cases. General patient ratios are 1:4, with a 1:6 ratio in fast track. The unit is supported by a charge nurse, emergency room technicians, and front-desk staff. Phlebotomy is mostly performed by RNs. There are no respiratory therapists or pharmacy staff on-site, so RNs manage ventilators and medication mixing is supervised via video conference. Ventilator/BiPAP management and charge nurse responsibilities include training. Orientation includes one hospital orientation session, an 8-hour respiratory management class, and one full day on the unit. A telemetry competency assessment is required before starting. The role uses the EPIC electronic health record, Alaris IV pumps, and the Pyxis medication dispensing system. Any scrub color is acceptable, and free parking is available.
