The Emergency Communications Operator is responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and dispatching calls for emergency services via emergency and non-emergency phone lines. This role involves interrogating callers for pertinent details of an event, entering accurate and concise data utilizing a CAD system, alert tones, pagers, and radio notification. The operator ensures the timely relay of information regarding the nature of the call, location, and additional instructions via radio directly to responding units, while simultaneously tracking responses, times, unit status updates, and notes. Additionally, this person is responsible for taking transport requests and seeking pre-approved transport authorization for them.
