Teradyne is seeking an EMC Design & Test Engineer with a strong emphasis on design-for-EMC. This role focuses primarily on integrating EMC principles into product architecture, schematics, and layout, while also supporting targeted EMC testing activities for system-level validation. You will collaborate closely with global engineering teams to ensure products meet regulatory EMC requirements throughout the development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include applying EMC principles during the design phase to ensure products meet regulatory and industry standards (e.g., IEC 61326-1, CISPR 11, FCC), developing EMC design requirements, participating in EMC design reviews, and identifying risks early in the development cycle. The role also involves ensuring designs comply with global EMC regulations, preparing detailed test reports and documentation for regulatory submissions, and collaborating with hardware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to identify and mitigate EMC risks. Troubleshooting and problem-solving EMC issues in prototypes and production units, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, are essential. Additionally, the engineer will use simulation tools (e.g., EMC Charge+, or similar) to predict and mitigate EMC issues, provide guidance and training to junior engineers on EMC design principles, and develop and execute EMC test plans for pre-compliance and compliance testing (EMI, ESD, radiated/conducted immunity, etc.). This includes setting up, operating, and maintaining EMC test equipment, interpreting and performing various EMC test methods, conducting testing in shielded rooms and in-situ environments, supporting product EMC certifications, interfacing with external labs and regulatory bodies, preparing technical documentation, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining a safe lab environment.
