About The Position

Otis is seeking a dynamic and innovative Embedded Software Engineer to join its Engineering organization at the Lead Design Center (LDC) in Farmington, Connecticut. This role is pivotal to the mission, focusing on software development for elevator drives. The engineer will work within a small to medium-sized group to design, develop, and test cutting-edge embedded software for drives and other embedded devices. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of development and testing tools. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in C, C++, or equivalent programming languages
  • 5+ years of experience developing software for embedded systems and devices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex software issues
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a global team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TI C2000 and ST microcontrollers using Code Composer Studio
  • Strong background in state machines, hardware abstraction layer design, memory management, and serial communications
  • Proficient in software debugging and testing with in-circuit emulators, oscilloscopes, and serial analyzers
  • Experience in motor control systems and digital signal processing
  • Knowledge of power electronics hardware design and PCB components
  • Familiar with configuration, change, and test management tools (Git, Bitbucket, Jira)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of embedded software for real-time elevator drive applications and interfaced embedded devices.
  • Operate both independently and collaboratively within a matrixed team environment, working alongside engineers across our global engineering centers.
