About The Position

T-Mobile is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop device agents that manage, monitor, and troubleshoot broadband customer premises equipment (CPE), including gateways and mesh extenders. The software is written in C and C++ for the RDK-B platform and uses Broadband Forum open USP standards. Within an established microservice architecture, the engineer will build and maintain assigned services that interface with Wi-Fi and cellular subsystems through RDK and RBUS. The role does not involve writing Wi-Fi drivers or modem firmware, but requires understanding those technologies and how RDK components interact. The engineer will develop and maintain embedded software components and device-management services, implement data-model parameters and USP behavior across supported hardware platforms, and package containerized services through a Kubernetes-based delivery pipeline. The role includes unit and automated testing, debugging across the device software stack, support for maintenance releases and firmware validation, and collaboration with OEM partners on defect triage and reproduction. The engineer will also improve field data and log collection, contribute to software development and delivery improvements, and document code, data models, and device behavior. This position calls for independent development of software components and collaboration with engineering teams to deliver scalable software solutions. The work supports broadband CPE, high-availability environments, operational efficiency, and business goals. Travel is required. The position is not DOT-regulated or safety-sensitive.

  • Build and maintain containerized services delivered through a Kubernetes-based packaging and deployment pipeline.
  • Write unit tests for new and changed code and extend automated test coverage.
  • Debug across the device software stack, including log analysis, root-cause investigation, and verification of fixes.
  • Support device maintenance releases, including test support, firmware validation, and release verification.
  • Work with OEM partners on defect triage and reproduction.
  • Improve field data and log collection to help issues be triaged and resolved faster.
  • Contribute ideas to improve device software development, testing, and delivery processes.
  • Document code, the data model, device behavior, system designs, and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to deliver software solutions and learn new technologies.
  • Contribute to technology strategy and present ideas for improving systems, processes, or services.
