About The Position

Community Youth Ministries (CYM) of Reedley, CA is looking to hire a part-time ELP Paraeducator. This position earns $19.71- $22.71/hour, depending on position and/or experience. CYM started in 1992 as a collaborative effort of 15 local churches to provide positive alternate activities for area youth. CYM is a 501(c)(3) that partners with local organizations, schools, and churches to empower and strengthen youth through various programs including after school programming. CYM serves youth in multiple cities throughout California's San Joaquin Valley, including Reedley, Orange Cove, Dinuba, South West Fresno, and Caruthers. Currently, CYM runs 17 after-school programs in the Kings Canyon Unified School District. CYM is passionate advocates for youth, upholding a culture of integrity, kindness, and responsibility. This extends to their work culture where employees have the satisfaction of working together as a team and seeing lives transformed through increased opportunities in the areas of leadership development, goal achievement, education, community services, vocational training, and spiritual growth.

Requirements

  • Paraeducator certificate OR 48+ completed college units
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the physical, social, and emotional growth of students through after-school programming.
  • Provide age-appropriate enrichment activities in a wide array of subjects.
  • Build positive relationships with and between students.
  • Ensure a safe environment during after-school hours.
  • Plan activities and prepare equipment before students arrive.
  • Keep the passion for learning alive through fun and engaging activities.
  • Encourage students and praise their individual abilities.
  • Provide consistent supervision at all times.
  • Employ effective group management techniques.
  • Use appropriate positive discipline.
  • Set a good example as a professional role model.
