About The Position

Instructs and directs the activities of students to help them achieve maximum academic success, in accordance with Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE), or other program guidelines. This position is responsible for implementing Extended Learning Programs (ELP) for students at an assigned site, adhering to Tennessee State Department of Education standards. The role involves creating individualized tutoring plans, assessing student progress, and providing academic support. The tutor will develop and assist students with academic exercises, concentrate efforts on small groups and individuals, and reinforce classroom teacher's instruction. Additionally, the position requires managing instructional materials, implementing effective teaching strategies, collecting data for reporting and program development, and collaborating with school staff. A minimum of eighteen (18) hours of professional development is required annually.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Tennessee professional teacher’s license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of successful classroom experience.
  • Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and directs student activities to ensure academic success.
  • Implements Extended Learning Programs (ELP) before and after school hours.
  • Generates tutoring plans detailing individual student goals and enrichment activities.
  • Assesses and documents student progress.
  • Develops and assists students with academic exercises and class activities.
  • Concentrates efforts with small groups of students and individuals.
  • Compiles, prepares, and organizes materials and classroom for instruction.
  • Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
  • Assists teachers with academic instruction and daily routines.
  • Provides instructional support and reinforcement to students needing tutoring.
  • Utilizes effective instructional practices, behavior management, assessment techniques, and directed teaching methods.
  • Collects and compiles statistical data for accountability and program development.
  • Collects, organizes, and completes information for reports and evaluation.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with teachers, central office staff, and administrators.
  • Completes at least eighteen (18) hours of professional development each school year.
