About The Position

Goodhue County Health & Human Services is seeking an Eligibility Worker to perform, under general supervision, tasks related to determining clients’ eligibility for income maintenance programs, including Food Support, Medical Assistance, and cash programs. The position interviews clients to obtain factual information and verify information they provide; explains application procedures and answers questions about completing application forms; determines eligibility and benefit amounts for cash, food, and medical assistance programs; informs clients of their rights, appeal methods, and other legal rights; and makes referrals to Social Services and other community resources when appropriate.

Requirements

High school diploma plus two years of study at a two- or four-year college, with emphasis in the Behavioral Sciences or Business; or two years of clerical experience in a County Health & Human Services Agency; or three years of clerical experience elsewhere, which may substitute for the two years of post-high-school education.

Nice To Haves

Current eligibility specialists with at least 24 months of experience determining eligibility for public assistance benefits in Minnesota within the past two years, or those who left the position less than 12 months ago and have at least 24 months of experience determining eligibility for public assistance.

Responsibilities
