About The Position

This Eligibility Technician 2 position joins the Division’s Virtual Call Center (VCC) team under the Field Services group. Field Services serves as the frontline workers whose goal is to help Alaskan families statewide reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency. As an Eligibility Technician 2 in this position, you will determine eligibility for a range of state and federal assistance programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance, and more. You will interview applicants, review their financial and personal information, and apply program rules to determine their eligibility. You will also initiate authorization of benefits for services and other supports, and work across multiple computer interfaces.

Requirements

  • One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).
