About The Position
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Economic Assistance is seeking a Eligibility Determinations Supervisor to join our team! HHS, Community Access and Eligibility, Medical Team, is seeking a qualified, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Eligibility Determinations Supervisor. This position is a hybrid position offering the opportunity to work from home and in the office at the nearest full-time HHS office to your residence.
Requirements
- Dedicated, organized, and skilled in all aspects of SNAP, FIP, and Medicaid eligibility determinations.
- Ability to plan, direct, organize, and make decisions regarding their unit’s operations.
- Ability to provide support to their peers when needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and via phone.
- Knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures expected of Eligibility Benefit Specialists.
- Proficiency in any languages in addition to English.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to travel.
Responsibilities
- Managing a unit of Income Maintenance staff
- Supporting the overall management and operation of the Medical Team
- Hiring and assisting in the training of new income maintenance workers
- Completing performance evaluations for staff
- Monitoring the work of their staff to ensure compliance with quantity and quality expectations
- Ensuring that the benefits of their staff are accurate and timely each month
- Responding to customer concerns and complaints
- Scheduling leave, coverage, and overtime
- Coaching, counseling, and developing corrective action plans for staff
- Conducting investigations for employee misconduct
- Participating in local and statewide work groups and projects
- Providing policy clarifications and training to their staff
- Demonstrating proficiency in the use of all software platforms used by Eligibility Benefit staff
- Managing staff that are working remotely
