About The Position

EMPACT-SPC is seeking an Eligibility Benefits Specialist with experience in an outpatient behavioral health setting, health care provider office, or similar environment. The role represents the agency professionally and treats clients with respect and care. Under the direction of the Site Administrator, the specialist verifies clients’ insurance benefits and eligibility to confirm coverage for services, analyzes benefit issues, recommends a course of action, and assists clients with AHCCCS eligibility and enrollment. The specialist also verifies and updates demographic information in the electronic health record and supports the outpatient clinic with related duties as assigned. The position requires professional, ethical conduct; positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and community and business partners; and the ability to work independently and cooperatively, remain calm in crisis situations, recognize personal limitations, and relate empathetically to people of all backgrounds. When driving on agency time or business, the employee must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, appropriate liability insurance, and approval for liability coverage from EMPACT-SPC’s insurance carrier. Out-of-state applicants must provide three years of driving records upon hire. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Full-time employees are offered the benefits described in the posting.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least two years of direct experience with the AHCCCS application process.
Experience helping members apply for state Medicaid insurance.
Knowledge of HIPAA and maintaining confidentiality of protected health information.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using electronic health records (EHR).
Must be eligible to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card or already have one.
Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, recognize personal limitations, and relate positively and empathetically to people regardless of age, race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation.
For driving on agency time or business: valid Arizona driver’s license, appropriate liability insurance, and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT-SPC’s insurance carrier. Out-of-state applicants must provide three years of driving records upon hire.

Nice To Haves

Insurance verification eligibility experience is strongly preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
