About The Position

We are looking for a dedicated Eligibility & Benefits Representative to join our Lubbock Heart team. Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years’ experience in a hospital setting.

  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties in accordance with established Patient Accounting Policies and Procedures.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a manner that is conducive in a professional office environment, including positive interactions, telephone professionalism, and adherence to company Dress Code Policy.
  • Enters data accurately on returned mail, insurance EOBs/Remittances and as discovered through regulatory agency notification, HIS reports, and/or other department notification.
  • Avoids negative trends associated in the quality/quantity of work.
  • On a daily basis ensures duties within the department are completed.
  • Demonstrates courteous customer service.
  • Ensures that patient access information is being captured during the initial registration/admission.
  • Prepare the monthly schedule for Admissions and ensures the prompt arrival/departure time and proper notification of employees’ absences/tardies.
  • Assists Director with other assigned duties/projects as requested.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintains a working familiarity with Hospital wide safety plans and codes.
  • Participates in the day to day operations of the facility, including scheduling patients, taking payment over the phone, verifying insurance and eligibility; and answering any questions a patient might have.
  • Works directly with patients for the patient’s payment agreements.
  • Works with other physician’s offices to obtain insurance referrals and create Case Management cases as needed.
  • Point of Contact with VA for authorizations, appointment verification, and maintain log of all VA patients.
  • Responsible for checking on a patient’s eligibility and obtaining benefits as needed for local patients and those outside of the Lubbock metro area.
  • Responsible for Insurance Calls when patients dispute the charges.
  • Attends and participates in Business Office meetings and special hospital wide meetings in the absence of the Director.
  • Has the ability to add a new insurance to Centricity as needed.
