About The Position

The Elementary Title I Reading Paraprofessional works under the supervision of the Pre K-5 Department Head for Literacy and the Title I Reading Teacher and in collaboration with teachers, Elementary Literacy Specialists, and the Title I Building Principals to actualize the district vision of academic excellence for all students by supporting direct, targeted reading instruction and assessment for students who have been identified through a universal screening process for reading. The goal of the position is to support the delivery of highly effective, supplemental reading instruction for Title I students in order to ensure that their academic reading achievement meets reading benchmarks according to universal screening and benchmark assessments.

• Basic knowledge of evidence-based reading curriculum and instructional methodology, as well as universal screening, benchmark assessments and progress monitoring.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education preferred.
• MA DESE Licensure in Reading, all Grade Levels or similar licensure such as MA DESE Elementary Licensure 1-6; MA DESE Moderate Special Needs Licensure PK-8; or MA DESE Licensure ESL PK-6, held or in process preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists the Title I teacher in providing research and evidence-based, targeted, direct instruction in small groups for Title I students.
• Reinforces the learning of literacy skills introduced by the Title I Reading Teacher or classroom teachers.
• Tracks and monitors Title I student reading achievement and progress.
• Collaborates with the Title I Reading Teacher, PK-5 Department Head for Literacy and the school’s literacy specialists to analyze and utilize data to inform daily instructional planning.
• Collaborates to administer universal screening processes, benchmark assessments, and individual student progress monitoring procedures for Title I students.
• Assists in fulfilling all Title I requirements and responsibilities as assigned.
