About The Position

Bismarck Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Title I Reading Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year to support elementary private schools. The exact building placement will be determined at a later date. This position is open to external teaching applicants, including current BPS employees in support staff, temporary, or substitute roles. Current contracted part-time BPS teachers seeking a full-time position are also encouraged to apply. The teaching contract is for 187 days. External applicants have the opportunity to have up to 17 years of K-12 teaching experience recognized.

Requirements

Valid North Dakota teaching license or the ability to obtain a license by the start of school.
Licensed K-5 Kindergarten endorsement or the Early Childhood Praxis passing score.

Responsibilities

Deliver a targeted intervention (SBR and district approved), based on data that enables students to be successful.
Instruct students individually or in small groups (preferably 4 or less).
Create a schedule based on skill need, using push in and/or pull out model of service to meet the needs of students.
Collaborate with team to assess, review, recommend and deliver student interventions (RTI).
Attend District Reading PLC meetings.
Attend Building PLC meetings, IEPs, and other related meetings when necessary.
Know and follow Title I guidelines in accordance with your schools program (targeted assistance, district look-a-like or school wide).
Maintain student records and submit appropriate paperwork.
Plan and oversee reading instructional aides, if applicable.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to travel to each private school building during the day which would include up to 5 stops.
